Crandon, Wisconsin, June 22, 1997--Crandon's own, Jack Flannery, continued his winning ways when he took his Chevy Thunder / Goodyear truck to the winners circle in class 4 races on Saturday and Sunday, as well as the Potawatomi Bingo Northern Lights Casino Governor’s Cup race on Sunday, at the Chevrolet Brush Run Race, the third event on the SODA World Series of Off-Road Racing eight race schedule.

Saturday's racing excitement produced winners in twelve different classes - Stanley Wood from Marinette, WI in class 6; Michael Oberg from Eagle River, WI in class 8s; Glen Mathews from Rhinelander, WI in class 12; Johnny Greaves from De Pere, WI in classes 5-1600 and 7s; Jason Crowder from Tallahassee, FL in class 2-1600; Evan Evans from Riverside, CA in class 13; Jeff St.Peter from Port Washington, WI in class 9; Jack Flannery from Wisconsin Dells, WI in class 4; Crystal Kozloski from Green Bay, WI in Women’s Limited Buggy class; Tina Crowder from Tallahassee, FL in Women’s Unlimited Buggy class and Brendan Gaughan from Las Vegas, NV in class 8.

On Sunday,drivers in eight different classes and three Challenge races competed for top honors bringing the crowd of nearly 22,000 spectators to their feet cheering for their champions.

Valerie Rehn from Appleton, WI (Ford/Goodyear) won Women’s Heavy Metal class; Kevin Beaty from Winnebago, IL - SODA Lites class; Jack Flannery from Wisconsin Dells, WI (Chevrolet/Goodyear) - class 4; Brendan Gaughan from Las Vegas, NV (Chevrolet/Goodyear) - class 8; Johnny Greaves from De Pere, WI (Toyota/BFGoodrich) - class 7s; Jason Crowder from Tallahassee, FL - class 1-1600; Pat Dean from Las Vegas, NV - class 1 and John Huven from Appleton, WI - class 11.

The Challenge races winners were Phil Doyle from Davis, IL in Limited Buggy Challenge; Pat Dean from Las Vegas, NV in Unlimited Buggy Challenge and Jack Flannery from Wisconsin Dells, WI in the Potawatomi Bingo Northern Lights Casino Governor’s Cup race.

The points leaders, after six rounds, in the ESPN2 televised Exxon SUPERFLO Pro Points Championship are Jack Flannery in class 4, Johnny Greaves in class 7s and Brendan Gaughan in class 8. Tentative ESPN2 air dates for this event are July 1, 17 (two air times) and 18.

Next stop on the SODA (Short-Course Off-Road Drivers Association) Series is the Chevrolet Off Road Nationals race in Lake Geneva, Wisconsin on July 12 and 13.

QUALIFYING FOR END OF THE YEAR AWARDS - Classes 4, 7s and 8 must compete in all 16 races in 1997. They must take the green flag in the Saturday race. To receive race credit, they must have paid their entry and registration fee and have gone through tech. If for any mechanical reason they can not compete in their race they must complete a race credit form (both Saturday and Sunday-if applicable) stating that they have met pre-tech requirements and are unable to compete in their event. They will receive credit for participation, but no points and will remain eligible for end of the year awards. Classes 4, 7s and 8 must meet these requirements for the Sunday event as well to receive race credit and to remain eligible for year-end awards.

No refunds or scratches allowed to qualify for end of the year awards.

If there are less than 15 drivers that qualify (based on above rules) for year-end payout, all remaining "unqualified" positions money will be distributed among "qualified" winners in each class.

Prizes will be awarded at the year end SODA banquet. The total pool is $116,000.
