ENSENADA, Baja California, Mexico — Continuing to add to his legacy nearly every time he hits the desert, legendary Hall of Fame off-road racer Rob MacCachren of Las Vegas has assumed the early lead in the 2017 SCORE Overall and SCORE Trophy Truck point standings in the No. 11 Rockstar MacCachren Motorsports Ford F-150.

Round 2 of the four-race 2017 SCORE World Desert Championship will be held May 31-June 4 in Mexico’s Baja California Norte, starting and finishing in Ensenada, the seaside port on the Pacific Ocean, 80 miles south of San Diego.

Most the world’s best desert racers will be in action at this year’s 49th anniversary of the SCORE Baja 500, the original desert race produced by SCORE on July 26, 1974.

Can-Am Maverick X3 Turbo side-by-side vehicle racer Phil Blurton won the 2017 UTV World Championship Safecraft long course overall and UTV Pro Turbo class this weekend in Laughlin, Nevada. Can-Am Maverick X3 side-by-side vehicle pilots had a great showing at the annual event, which is sanctioned by the Best In The Desert (BITD) racing association, winning two classes, including a podium sweep in the Pro UTV Unlimited ranks.

Scott Steinberger will be racing again this year; driving with Dave Sykes in the Fodge; an historic truck that is part Ford, and part Dodge. Sharlene Miscik will be Co-Driving with Luke Babb and George Peters on the 3 Donkey’s Racing Team entry, and Matt Banuelos and his friend Nick will be helping NORRA on their bikes as members of the sweep crew.
